Oh What a Night… or What a Fabulous Book Launch!

It was the best book launch I’ve ever had – ok, it was the first book launch I’ve had but it really did go well. Having the book launch online was the best decision as we were joined by people from different areas of Australia as well as different countries around the world.

In case you didn’t make it to my book launch, there is a recording which you can watch by clicking here.

My publisher, Mitchell from Downingfield Press, did a wonderful job of organising the book launch and facilitating the evening. He really did make things easy for me and, if your genre is history in any form, I highly recommend you submit your work to Downingfield Press.

Helen Azar, who is renowned for her knowledge of the Romanovs and Russian Imperial history, asked me a range of well-thought out questions about the 2nd edition of Upheaval and my journey toward publication. Helen’s translations of the diaries of the Grand Duchesses, the daughters of Tsar Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra, were a wonderful resource for my research and you can find them here.

There were also some thought provoking questions from the audience and, in the recording of the book launch, you will see me look to the heavens several times as I seek the answers. I think my favourite question was from my grandson who wanted to know if I will read the 2nd edition of Upheaval to him. Of course I will! However, I will miss out the more horrific parts of my grandmother’s story, at least until he’s a bit older.

In conclusion I really enjoyed the book launch, far more than I thought I would. It was a great experience and I am fortunate to have had family and friends to share it with.
