Three photos of three generations along the matrilineal line, all around the same age

My grandmother, Countess Olga Kleinmichel; my mother, Tatiana Woronoff; and me, Alexandra de Fircks, all around the same age, although as only my mother’s photo and mine have dates, I can’t be exact but I guesstimate my grandmother was also around 6 or 7 when her photo was taken. Clockwise: Tatiana Woronoff, Olga Kleinmichel, Alexandra de Fircks.

I’m very lucky to have these family photos. They are a very small sample of the many photos I inherited. Unfortunately, they are also an example of improperly identified photos. Almost all the photos I inherited are not identified, or they only have a name – usually only a first name – or perhaps only a date or only a place. It’s so annoying!

I actually threw out several hundred photos of landscapes, cars and animals which were not identified at all.

When I was looking for photos to include in the 2nd edition of Upheaval, I had to try to find ones which were properly identified which meant I left out so many of them. But I did find a few new ones. Now that I’ve begun writing the sequel to Upheaval, I’m also looking through the photos I have to see which ones would be suitable. Of course I also took many photos on my journey following in the footsteps of my grandparents but it would be lovely if I could find their photos to compare them.

Speaking of comparisons, I think my grandmother, my mother and myself all look very similar in the photos above – what do you think?
